It has been another busy week for Ecohoof this week.

 

We were delighted to see an article by Agriland on Noel Walsh one of our successful distributor of Ecohoof Germicide in Ireland.

Noel has a great enthusiasm for the product and has recently added another 3/4 products from Ecohoof to his expanding range of stock.

 

This week we have also had people expressing an interest in our Ecohoof Germicide from as far away as Australia. The world seems to be getting smaller.

After a look at our website traffic we were amazed to see visitors to our site from Strathaven to County Cork, from  Brazil to Australia, from Russia to America. The internet is opening doors to other countries – what did we do before the internet?

 

 

Regular footbathing dairy cattle helps the farmer stay on top of many of the main causes of infection in the hoof.

Using Ecohoof Germicide Footbath will not cure Digital Dermatitis, as there currently no product on the market that can, however it will make it manageable both for the farmer and the cow.

As Lambing Season is now upon us once again so be prepared this year with your Purple Spray.

Purple Spray has a multitude of uses around the farm, and the farmer should always have a bottle handy.

Ecohoof Purple Spray is available all year round from Ecohoof.  You can buy the spray individually in a 500ml trigger spray bottle for only £9 or in a box of 15.

 

 

 

Our Irish Agents paid us a visit on Monday, 26th January, along with their new distributors of Ecohoof Products.   The group were keen to see the Ecohoof Germicide Footbath in action, on farms.

We were very grateful to some local farmers: Mr Dyet, Mr Ballantyme and Mr Kerr for their hospitality – they were all very keen to explain the merits of the Germicide and also chatter at length about other farm issues.

Mr Dyet, of East Merkland Farm, has 1,500 ewes and told us how he walks his ewes through a footbath with a sponge system at every opportunity. His sheep have no hoof problems and believes in our motto – Prevention is Better than Cure.  Dyet also uses Ecohoof Purple Spray on farm and gets great results.

Mr Kerr, of Townhead Farm, is milking 110 cows in the new robotic system. Kerr explained that he has not had any foot problems since he started using Ecohoof Germicide in a regular basis.

We visited Mr. Ballentymes of Nethershields, where his charge hand explained how they walked the 230 cattle through a water footbath before walking them through a Ecohoof Germicide Foothbath. This was working well for them.

At Kerr and Ballentymes farm, they both commented on the noticeable improvement in the cows hoofs since switching from Formalin to Ecohoof Germicide Footbath.

The Irish contingent were very impressed and said so in a thank you message which stated that the whole visit had been a wonderful experience and gave them even more confidence to distribute our products.

More Power to Ecohoof

In order to ‘hit’ any problems hard it is recommended that an initial 20 day programme is followed.

•  Follow your normal routine to ensure footbath area is clean that a pre-wash bath of water is in place
• Using 1 scoop (350gms) to 100ltrs water in the footbath, walk the animals through as normal. Repeat at each milking for 20 days. Discard the footbath after 2 sessions or if heavily contaminated
• Treat any individual case that require trimming prior to footbathing and dispose of trimmings where they can’t cause further infection 

Note: Cross contamination can come from trimming tools, particularly farm to farm via professional hoof trimmers. Disinfect all tools prior to, and after, use.

•   After the 20 day programme, footbath regularly – at least 3 times per week   

Note: Ecohoof Germicide is a powerful disinfectant and can be used to wash down parlour walls and floor, cubicles and utensils. Use in same dilution 

Tip: When making up Ecohoof Germicide solution for footbathing or cleaning, put some into a small spray bottle to use on individual cows feet.

After a stressful couple of months at Ecohoof, with moving premises, I am so happy to show off our new place. We now have our signs up outside and welcoming passing customers with our counter.

We had a great weekend at the show in Lanark on Saturday, with lots of interest and some returning customers coming to chat.
We had our original product Ecohoof Germicide along with some new products that we are hoping to bring to the market fully in the new year.
